Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC in Elkhart, IN seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to oversee quality management, lead problem-solving initiatives, and manage customer and supplier compliance for precision manufacturing operations. The role requires 7–10 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.

You will drive APQP, PPAP, FAI, MRB, AS9100/ISO processes, SPC, Lean, and training for engineers and technicians, with standard daytime hours, full-time schedule, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 3+ years of QA experience, OR 7+ years in a technical QA role.
• Strong understanding of AS9100 or ISO/TS-16949 standards.
• Proficiency with AIAG core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
• Knowledge of GD&T and Gage R&R.
• Experience leading 8D, 5-Why, and 7-Step problem solving.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage APQP, PPAP, and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and review customer POs for quality requirements.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customer inquiries, supplier quality, and RMA/RTV processing.
• Lead internal and customer-facing problem-solving teams using 8D, 5-Why, PRR.
• Maintain the MRB cage and logbook, conduct regular audits, and ensure alignment with AS9100/ISO frameworks.
• Utilize SPC and Lean manufacturing projects to drive scrap-reduction.
• Onboard and train Quality Engineers and Technicians on ERP systems and corrective actions.

We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Quality Engineer to oversee quality management systems, lead problem-solving initiatives, and manage customer and supplier compliance for precision manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Quality Compliance & Documentation: Manage APQP, PPAP, and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes; review customer POs for quality requirements.

• Experience with custom precision metal fabrication, welding, and machining processes.


• Background working in regulated aerospace, defense, or automotive manufacturing environments.


• Active involvement or certification through professional quality organizations (e.g., ASQ).

• Core Skills: Proficiency in AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans), GD&T, and Gage R&R.


• Problem Solving: Proven expertise using formal problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, 7-Step).


• Software: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint) and experience with ERP systems.
