Job summary

ASML US, LLC in San Diego is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to ensure DUV systems meet the highest quality standards. You will lead cross-functional improvements, use data-driven methods, and mentor junior staff while working in a cleanroom and staying onsite during shifts.

You will drive quality processes, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, with a focus on advanced semiconductor hardware and customer success.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical/manufacturing/industrial/mechatronics or related field, or Bachelor with extensive experience.
  • Minimum eight years of quality engineering and/or manufacturing/high-tech hardware experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and data-analysis capabilities.
  • Experience guiding cross-functional quality initiatives and mentoring staff.

Introduction to the Job

Join ASML in San Diego as a Senior Quality Engineer and help shape the future of semiconductor manufacturing. Your work will ensure our deep ultraviolet (DUV) systems meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will improve parts and processes, strengthen performance, and support customer success across the factory.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will lead cross-functional improvement initiatives. You will use data, structured methods, and clear communication to prevent issues, solve problems, and sustain results. This role requires working in a cleanroom environment, wearing protective gear for the entire shift. You will be onsite 100% during working hours.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Acts as a role model for quality standards and as mentor to more junior colleagues.
  • Supports the development and delivery of Quality processes and tools training.
  • Represents Quality Engineering team and participates in cross-sector teams to realize quality solutions.
  • Aligns on / thinks of solutions with counter parts from multiple adjacent groups.
  • Interacts and builds a cross sector network.
  • Leads and drives projects to resolve quality problems.
  • Introduces and drives new quality approaches.
  • Leads process improvements at cluster level, implementing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Self-propelling within own area of expertise, subject to high-level managerial direction.
Quality Control, Assurance & Compliance

Leads quality control and assurance activities, manages inspections, audits, and tests. Ensures adherence to established quality standards.

Uses advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement. Supports and contributes to technical & organizational risk management activities.

Contributes to the development of enhanced quality management systems and processes.

Provides guidance to junior specialists in quality control, assurance & compliance.

Leads improvement projects, with impact on various teams within the department.

Provide leadership in driving continuous improvement through effective quality control practices.

Expert Knowledge, Advice & Capability Building

Develops and provides technical training within the own area of expertise on quality methodologies and best practices.

Provides knowledge and advise to colleagues and managers.

Mentors junior quality specialists in training techniques and content development.

Procedures, Standards Development & Adherence

Contributes to quality management systems and processes.

Promotes and manages the adoption & adherence of quality procedures and standards.

Deploys expertise related competences.

Performance & Data Analytics

Leads more complex data analysis activities, using advanced statistical techniques to analyze quality data and generate actionable recommendations.

Identifies root causes of quality issues through data-driven insights and contributes to the design of improved quality processes.

Documenting & Reporting

Leads the documentation of complex quality processes, contributing to the development of improved procedures and protocols.

Generates detailed reports on quality performance, highlighting trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

Leads root cause analysis for more complex quality issues across teams, applying advanced problem-solving techniques to identify underlying causes.

Develops and implements solutions to prevent recurrence of quality deviations.

Process Improvement

Leads process improvement projects, applying data analysis to identify root causes of inefficiencies.

Develops and implements more complex process enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve quality-related goals.

Ensures that process improvements are implemented in the organization, in process descriptions, systems and architecture.

Manage Customer Expectations

Leads interactions with customers, understanding their quality-related needs and concerns. Resolves issues within established guidelines, and ensures that customer expectations are met.

Applies advanced communication skills to manage customer expectations, ensuring alignment with quality standards and processes.

Culture & Community

Education and Experience

Master's degree in a technical field such as electrical engineering, manufacturing, industrial engineering, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering, or other relevant area with thorough experience or Bachelor degree with deep/extensive experience. Pending the expertise area additional certifications may be required. Required minimum of eight years experience in quality engineering and/or within manufacturing and/or high-tech hardware.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$102,375-153,563

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

  • The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
  • Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan.
  • Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
