Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Rockford, IL seeks a Senior Quality Chemist to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance. You will analyze raw materials, in-process samples and finished products using advanced analytical techniques, lead investigations and support audits.

The role requires strong communication with customers and cross-functional teams to implement process improvements. Minimum MS (2–5 years) or BS (5–8 years) in chemistry/biochemistry, with expertise in HPLC/GC/FT-IR/NMR.

Qualifications

• MS or BS degree in chemistry/biochemistry or related science
• 2–5 years (MS) or 5–8 years (BS) relevant experience
• Experience with analytical techniques used in chemical/biochemical manufacturing

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory operations and document testing of raw materials, formulations, intermediates and finished goods
• Draft and revise SOPs for new procedures and equipment
• Interact with customers during investigations and product development
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments
• Lead investigations and drive corrective actions
• Train new associates on procedures and techniques
• Ensure manufacturing aligns with quality and customer requirements
• Identify process improvements focusing on safety and cost
