Job summary

LANXESS Corporation in Kalama, WA seeks a Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor to lead the Kalama QC Laboratory, overseeing seven QC chemists and ensuring timely release of finished goods while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires 5–10 years of QC/lab leadership, strong analytical and communication skills, and expertise in ISO 9001 and cGMPs. 24/7 operations, budgeting, audits, and cross-functional collaboration are key aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Chemistry or Data Science preferred).
• 5–10 years of QC or laboratory experience with supervisory duties.
• Hands-on experience handling chemicals and laboratory procedures.
• Experience with instrumental analysis (GC, FTIR, spectrometry) is preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and cGMPs.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily QC laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, regulatory standards.
• Review and approve analytical data, trends, finished goods results, calibrations and qualifications.
• Troubleshoot analytical issues and provide backup testing support.
• Develop, improve and implement laboratory methods and equipment.
• Collaborate with Operations and R&D on process improvement and cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, pharmaceutical, and regulatory requirements.
• Train, coach and develop QC staff for timely data reporting.
• Schedule and manage staffing for 24/7 coverage, 365 days per year.
• Support budgeting, inventory management, purchasing and invoice approvals.
• Participate in audits and conduct internal lab safety and housekeeping audits.
