Overview

Job Title: Senior QA Tester Healthcare Claims
Location: 100% Remote
Type: Contract
Compensation: $54 / hr

ALTA IT is seeking an experienced Senior QA Tester with a strong background in healthcare claims testing, specifically focused on 837 EDI transactions for a healthcare client. This role is responsible for developing and executing test plans, identifying and resolving software issues, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality systems. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of QA methodologies, healthcare claims processes, and has led testing efforts in Agile environments.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute test plans and test cases for healthcare claims applications, including 837 EDI transactions.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to ensure thorough test coverage.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using tools such as JIRA, and work closely with developers for resolution.
  • Lead testing activities across multiple projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including offshore resources.
  • Mentor junior QA testers and provide support on test strategies and execution.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and data privacy regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
    (In lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered.)
  • 5+ years of QA/testing experience, including 4+ years in a senior-level QA role.
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare claims testing, specifically 837 EDI transactions.
  • Strong understanding of QA best practices, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with JIRA or similar tools for test case and defect management.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Skills
  • 8+ years of total QA experience across healthcare projects.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.
  • SQL proficiency for data validation.
  • Experience with test automation tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and mentoring skills.
