Job summary

Ontic is seeking a Senior QA Engineer in Austin, TX who will design and execute tests for front-end, API, and integration testing. You will drive risk-based test planning, ensure coverage for Commercial and FedRAMP, and mentor junior QA engineers in a fast-paced security software environment.

You will collaborate with product, developers, and the QA team to own quality from requirements through production readiness, supporting CI/CD workflows and test automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in manual and automation testing.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and testing best practices.
• Experience with test management tools like JIRA.
• Proven ability in functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes.
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment; learning/adapting quickly.
• Prior experience with FedRAMP or secure testing practices is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for front-end, API, and integration testing.
• Risk-based planning and estimation, identify critical scenarios and regression coverage.
• Ensure test coverage and quality standards for Commercial and FedRAMP customers.
• Collaborate with product, developers and QA to resolve issues.
• Own quality for features from requirements through production readiness, including test strategy and release risk communication.
• Support system integration testing and CI/CD workflows.
• Identify automation opportunities and contribute to test automation frameworks.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and communicate progress and blockers.
• Participate in requirement/design discussions and review acceptance criteria for testability.
• Review test cases/automation and mentor junior QA engineers.
