Job summary

Management Controls Inc in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our AI-forward QA team. The role emphasizes automation, manual testing, system tests, performance and load testing to ensure product quality and prevent defects from shipping.

The company leverages AI tools to streamline workflows and drive data-driven decisions, with an emphasis on secure, compliant AI usage across teams. 6+ years in QA and 5+ years automation coding are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required (Master’s degree preferred), with an educational emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Development, Information Systems, and/or Web Development.
6+ years of related industry experience in software development and/or quality assurance.
5+ years of quality assurance automation coding experience required.
Proficiency in tools like Ranorex, UFT, Postman, LoadRunner, StormRunner, Appium, Playwright, and Selenium.
Working experience with Microsoft TFS/VSTS/Azure DevOps.
Understanding and ability to produce deliverables including test plans, performance reports, testing reports, defect tickets, documentation and presentations.
Strong orientation towards test automation.
A zero-defect mindset with a willingness to find new automated ways of increasing test coverage and finding defects before they ship.
Desire to actively learn, embrace new ideas and support others in the learning process.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in a variety of written and diagrammatic forms
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Creative thinking, problem-solving, and intuitively seeing flaws in software that others cannot find.
A thorough, detail-oriented, and highly organized working style with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Knowledge and understanding of practical applications for AI in quality assurance including but not limited to test planning and strategy, defect detection, and agile and project delivery.

Responsibilities

Perform necessary testing to ensure high quality defect free applications are deployed.
Ensure QA meets testing deadlines, except in those cases that strict deadlines would result in inferior testing and significantly increase the risk of undetected defects.
Ensure Team members in Agile Teams are thoroughly testing and coding automation that meets best practices and adheres to MCI set standards.
Leverage AI-assisted analytics to identify quality risks, defect trends, and opportunities to improve test coverage.
Coach and mentor team members when necessary to improve their testing and automation skills.
Clearly articulate complex ideas to internal teams.
Contribute to a team culture by demonstrating a positive attitude, team-oriented approach, leadership qualities, and openness to learning and feedback.
Continuously seek to be well-informed regarding new software and testing concepts.
Manage time effectively and execute according to commitments.
Apply a critical lens to your own work and the work of others.
Demonstrate team orientation by building rapport with teammates, software development and product managers.
