Vail Systems in Illinois seeks a QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks across products, APIs, and telecom platforms. You will lead complex test automation, strengthen CI/CD, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with Software Engineering, Product Management, DevOps, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• 4–7 years in software development, test automation, or QA infrastructure engineering
• Proficiency in one or more of Ruby, Java, C#/.NET, C++, Perl, or Python
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using JUnit, TestNG, PyTest, RSpec, Selenium, Cucumber, or equivalent technologies
• Experience developing and maintaining automated testing within Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, Linux environments, and network fundamentals
• Experience with load, stress, and performance testing; SQL and NoSQL databases for data-driven testing
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and drive technical initiatives
• Preferred: experience leveraging AI to enhance testing and automation

Responsibilities

• Lead Automation Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks that improve reliability and efficiency
• Own Complex Test Automation: Build and maintain automation for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across distributed applications and APIs
• Advance Test Infrastructure: Enhance internal automation tools, libraries, and CI/CD workflows
• Strengthen CI/CD Pipelines: Design and optimize automated test execution within Jenkins and containerized environments
• Analyze and Resolve Complex Issues: Investigate failures across applications, services, databases, and infra to identify root causes
• Lead Performance Validation: Develop and execute performance, load, and stress testing strategies
• Collaborate Across Engineering: Partner with Software Engineering, Product Management, DevOps, and Operations
• Provide Technical Leadership: Mentor engineers through code reviews and automation design discussions
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Expand automation coverage and improve framework architecture
