Job summary

NuAxis is seeking a Senior QA/508 Tester to lead quality assurance and accessibility conformance across the application portfolio, owning test strategy and automation architecture, and ensuring Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

The role requires 5–8 years QA experience with leadership in test teams, DHS Trusted Tester certification, and a strong mix of hands-on testing and mentoring. This is a full-time on-site position supporting federal solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an Associate's degree with additional relevant experience.
• 5–8 years of software quality assurance experience, including at least 3 years in a test lead role and 3 years of accessibility testing.
• DHS Trusted Tester Certification is required.
• ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager or IAAP CPACC/WAS preferred.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA and accessibility testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise test strategy covering functional, regression, integration, performance, and accessibility testing.
• Architect and maintain test automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead Section 508 conformance testing using the DHS Trusted Tester process, combining automated tooling with formal manual testing and assistive technology validation.
• Establish defect taxonomy, severity criteria, entry and exit gates, and remediation tracking through closure.
• Produce accessibility conformance artifacts and support acceptance and ATO activities.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing; mentor mid-level testers and drive tester certification attainment.
• Report quality metrics - defect density, escape rate, automation coverage, accessibility defect aging - to program leadership.

Job Summary:

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience.
• Minimum Experience: Five (5) to eight (8) years of software quality assurance experience, including at least three (3) years in a test lead capacity and three (3) years of accessibility testing.
• Certifications — Required: DHS Trusted Tester Certification.
• Certifications — Obtainable After Hire: ISTQB Certified Tester - Advanced Level Test Manager, within 180 days of assignment. Where DHS Trusted Tester is not held at the time of assignment, it must be obtained within 90 days.
• Certifications — Preferred: IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS); ISTQB Test Automation Engineer.
• Required Skills: Test strategy and planning; test automation architecture; WCAG 2.1 Level AA; accessibility testing tools; assistive technology; defect management; CI/CD test integration; UAT leadership; team mentoring.
• Preferred Skills: Federal accessibility compliance programs; performance and security testing; Agile and SAFe testing practices; API and data validation automation.
