Job summary

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python with strong OOP fundamentals.

Are you an expert in Python (OOP) and distributed asynchronous architectures? We are seeking a Senior-level Software Engineer for a critical 6-month contract (with up to 3 years of extensions) to design and automate a high-impact trading data system for a global energy leader.

• Duration: 6 months (Extensive extension potential up to 3 years)

The Project

You will spearhead the automation of a high-volume transactional data platform. Currently, trades executed across multiple global exchanges are processed manually before entering Enterprise Risk Management Systems (ETRMs). Your mission is to eliminate this delay, engineering real-time automated data pipelines that secure instant profit and loss (P&L) visibility and seamless transaction auditing.

• Own & Deliver: Act with high autonomy, taking charge of specific workstreams and delivering end-to-end execution from design to deployment.
• Architect Distributed Pipelines: Solve functional and technical problems for large-scale, immutable application architectures running across multiple distributed machines.
• Bridge Tech & Business: Collaborate directly with lead functional developers, internal squads, and external business stakeholders to translate trading requirements into code.
• Mentor & Guide: Act as a technical anchor, providing project guidance, test-script design leadership, and mentorship to junior staff members.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• Python Mastery: Strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) foundation in Python.
• Distributed Asynchronous Systems: Deep experience designing distributed systems, ensuring zero data conflicts in multi-machine, immutable environments.
• Message Brokers & Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar message brokers (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, AWS SQS), alongside Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure/AWS.
• Strongly-Typed Foundations: An OOP background with exposure to at least one strongly-typed language.
• Databases & DevOps: Proficiency in SQL Server or Oracle DB, combined with a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
