Job summary

DRW is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join its Commodities trading group to build a first-in-class platform for quantitative and fundamental research.

You will work with researchers and traders to create robust environments for data analysis, research and production models, spanning exploratory analysis to real-time forecasting and deployment in a Linux-based cluster.

This role values autonomy, scalable tooling, and a strong API-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Strong Python knowledge.
• Experience with API design and usability.
• Experience building and scaling large-scale analysis or ML tools.
• Data visualization expertise (Plotly, Panel, Dash).
• Willingness to educate researchers on software engineering best practices.
• Experience with strongly typed or compiled languages (Java, C++, Go, Rust).
• Ability to own delivery of complex projects end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Create tools and workflows that enable exploratory research.
• Craft Python APIs that enable research productivity.
• Collaborate with researchers to implement research studies, analytics, and production models for commodities trading.
• Define and maintain our Python research environment for data-intensive workloads.
• Build data and ML infrastructure for accessible trading data sets.
• Manage production workflows for real-time forecasting, modelling, and analytics in our Linux compute environment.
• Build systems for backtesting and deployment of systematic trading strategies.
