Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer to power our agentic AI learning platform. You will design scalable APIs, build data pipelines, and support real-time learner interaction from anywhere in our approved remote states.

You'll collaborate with AI, data science, and product teams, implement cost- and performance- oriented infrastructure, and help shape reliable, human-centered experiences using AWS and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years production Python experience at scale.
• Experience with AWS services and data platforms.
• Strong understanding of data pipelines (streaming & batch).
• IaC experience with CDK or Terraform.
• Production SaaS experience with on-call / incident response.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with AI development tools and autonomous learning systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable APIs for agent orchestration and learner interaction.
• Build data pipelines for agent evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Create event streaming infrastructure for real-time analysis.
• Ensure data quality and accessibility for training learning agents.
• Improve data infra for cost and performance with Data/ML teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and runbooks for reliability.
