Job summary

Unissant, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Automation Testing Engineer in Ashburn, VA, to lead end-to-end testing efforts and develop automation frameworks.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software testing experience, strong Python skills, and proficiency with REST APIs, AWS, and SQL. You will build internal tools, automate repetitive tasks, and collaborate across teams in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant experience in software testing, automation engineering, or related technical work.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• Strong understanding of modern Python 3.8+ programming.
• Experience with Python web frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Strong background in software testing, including testing REST APIs and end-to-end workflows.
• Experience working in AWS cloud environments.
• Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive tasks and improve engineering efficiency.
• Familiarity with Python testing frameworks such as pytest or unittest.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Locust.
• Knowledge of version control systems and CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Harness, or Jenkins.
• Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL databases and strong SQL skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Python-based applications that support testing and automation objectives.
• Partner with UI, services, API, and systems engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Build internal automation tools and workflows to improve team collaboration and streamline tasks.
• Take ownership of the automated testing codebase and its ongoing maintenance.
• Develop automation test scripts and execute regression, functional, and system testing activities.
• Validate results and prepare test summaries, defect reports, and supporting documentation.
• Generate test data and perform data validation to support testing efforts.
• Test data interface messaging using JSON and XML structures.
• Develop SQL and Unix-based scripts to support test data preparation and test harness automation.
