Job summary

LPL Financial LLC seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable cloud-native solutions within the Data Modernization & Integration group. You will develop Python services and REST APIs, migrate and monitor AWS-hosted applications, and collaborate with platform, data, security, and middleware teams.

The role emphasizes API design, security, IaC with Terraform, CI/CD, observability, and production support. 7+ years in related roles and strong Python/AWS experience are expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud app engineering, API engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on Python development, REST APIs, AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM, S3), and Terraform for IaC.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, automated testing, and deployment automation tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data validation, data profiling, system integrations, and enterprise application support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based REST APIs that support business-critical workflows.
• Build APIs using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway, following API-first and REST best practices.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and IAM-based access.
• Create and maintain reusable Terraform modules for infrastructure and monitoring.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment of Python APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Promote best practices and a culture of engineering excellence.
