Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Missouri is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to lead factory‑level purchasing, optimize costs, and drive supplier strategies. You will oversee direct materials, ensure material availability, and champion sustainable supply chain practices while leading a team of buyers and analysts.

The role requires 8+ years in purchasing, 3+ years in manufacturing, and strong negotiation and leadership skills, with SAP or similar ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, including 3+ years in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of direct material sourcing and MRP systems.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Preferred certifications: CPP, CPIM, Lean Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end purchasing for direct materials and factory services.
• Ensure timely material availability to meet production schedules.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and regional suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs.
• Monitor supplier performance and lead audits when needed.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing.
• Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for purchase order management and reporting.
• Lead and develop a team of buyers and analysts to achieve factory goals.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
