Job summary

Fisica, Inc., based in San Leandro, CA, develops cutting-edge pulsed power systems, x-ray and EMP radiation sources, high-voltage switches, & power-conditioning components. These core technologies are applied to simulate radiation environments and study effects on electronics, optics, and materials.

Our products include flash x-ray imaging, electron beam generation and non-destructive evaluation. We are seeking a pulsed power engineer to lead test campaigns, contribute to new pulsed power

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related field.
• 4 years of experience (or 2 years with an MS degree).
• Hands-on experimental lab work or experience with engines or electronics.
• Able to read engineering drawings and assemble/troubleshoot equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting vacuum systems, gas systems, data acquisition, or electrical systems.
• Experience with data analysis of physical time series data.
• Curious, self-motivated and eager to learn; iterate quickly.
• Excellent communication in oral and written English.
• Detail oriented and observant of details affecting experiments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain future Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests on large pulsed power machines and radiation sources.
• Design and execute experiments on real machines or simulations.
• Tackle varied development problems with general objectives.
• Design and troubleshoot radiation sources or components of pulsed power systems.
• Develop, troubleshoot, or calibrate diagnostics.
• Run basic circuit simulations and compare results to data.
• Interpret and report experimental and simulation results to teammates and customers.
• Prepare presentations and/or scientific writing.
• Collaborate with customers to understand testing requirements.
• Contribute ideas for advanced R&D projects.
• Adhere to safety protocols and complete required training.
