Job summary

South Tahoe Public Utility District seeks an experienced civil engineer to lead and manage complex public works projects, including water production, storage, distribution, and wastewater systems.

The role requires supervision of engineering staff, coordination with staff and external agencies, and oversight of design, permitting, bidding, and construction. A California PE license and multi-disciplinary knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Six years of civil/environmental experience with water and wastewater emphasis; two years at or above Associate Engineer.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• California Civil Engineer registration required (or registered out of state with CA registration within 12 months).
• Competent Person training, QSD certification, and OSHA knowledge or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for engineering and technical staff.
• Manage planning, design, permitting, construction, budgeting, and program development for complex public works.
• Coordinate with staff, other agencies, consultants, and the public; present to boards and groups.
• Oversee capital improvement program and internal/external meetings and reports.
• Develop design standards, bid documents, and contract administration; monitor expenditures.
• Ensure NEPA/CEQA compliance and environmental documentation as needed.
