Job summary

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office seeks an attorney for the Employment Litigation Division to defend City departments and individual employees in labor and employment litigation. The role focuses on FEHA-related claims and whistleblower statutes, with a need for strategic litigation expertise across cases.

The selected attorney will represent the City through all phases of litigation, interact with City leadership, analyze liability, and develop and execute case strategies from inception

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of labor law and theories in federal employment litigation is helpful.
• Knowledge of FEHA and Labor Code § 1102.5 (the whistleblower statute) is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Representing the City in all phases of trial level labor and employment litigation.
• Presenting recommendations to City Council and attendant bodies.
• Meeting with high ranking appointed and elected City employees and officials.
• Analyzing legal liability and damages at all phases of litigation.
• Law and motion preparation and argument.
• Creating and implementing a case handling and litigation strategy from inception of litigation through trial.
• Other related duties as assigned
