Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in professional accounting or auditing work.
Certification or registration as a Public Accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the two (2) years of the required experience.
Internal Applicants Only: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as an Accountant may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and analysis of complex financial reports and government budgets.
Monitor compliance with state, federal, and local financial regulations.
Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
Coordinate audit processes and internal control improvements.
Provide mentorship and direction to accounting staff.
Collaborate with leadership to support long-term financial planning and public accountability.
