Job summary

State of Colorado, within the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM), seeks a Telecommunications Specialist III to maintain and support critical public safety communications networks. The role focuses on RF/microwave systems, land mobile radios, and two-way communication infrastructure across Colorado.

The position requires extensive field work, tower access, and on-call responsibilities to ensure system availability and reliability for first responders.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of hands-on technical experience with land mobile radio (LMR), microwave, two-way radio, or related RF technologies.
• Current or preferred FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is listed as a credential.
• Tower certification and FCC GROL are preferred qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Establish installation, maintenance and operating processes and procedures.
• Install and repair equipment and systems where little or no documentation is available.
• Update manuals, schematics and equipment records for the division.
• Respond to emergency outages and support 24/7 on-call availability.
• Coordinate and perform maintenance and repairs of transmitter sites and towers.
