Job summary

The State of Colorado is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist III for the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM). This in-person, on-call role supports public safety communications, including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of microwave, two-way radio, and RF systems across Colorado.

You will work with a team to ensure system reliability and safety. Preferred candidates hold a GROL license, tower/rescue certifications, and demonstrate strong technical

Qualifications

• Three (3) years hands-on experience with land mobile radio (LMR), microwave, two-way radio, or related RF technologies.
• Must have valid Colorado Driver's License.
• Must be on on-call rotation.
• Must be able to climb towers up to 350 feet.

Responsibilities

• Establish installation, maintenance and operating processes and procedures.
• Provide field modifications and construct circuits, systems and assemblies.
• Install and repair equipment with little documentation.
• Support estimates of manpower, time, and costs for upgrades.
• Update manuals and schematics for serviced equipment.
• Remote monitoring of microwave and statewide networks daily.
• Perform repairs and calibration when faults are detected.
• Maintain transmitter sites, towers and related equipment.
• Climb towers and assess structures and equipment.
• Maintain proficiency in RF standards and stay current on trainings.
• Act as Work Lead as needed.
