Job summary

The Kapaa Public Library in Hawaii is seeking a Librarian III to plan and supervise library operations, provide specialist reference and cataloging services, and coordinate library programs at a major service level.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 2.5 years of professional librarianship, with at least one year at Librarian III. Position may involve rotating shifts and public service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
• Two and one-half years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more major functional areas of librarianship (e.g., selection, acquisition, cataloging and classification, collection development and maintenance, reference and readers' advisory services, or development and promotion of library services).
• At least one year of experience must have been comparable to the Librarian III.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise the operation of a PUBLIC library.
• Serve as a specialist for reference and materials, or cataloging and classification, in a subject field(s) or special collection(s).
• Plan, coordinate and evaluate library services in a major service/functional area; provide specialized reference services and materials to departmental/program personnel.
