Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) seeks a Public Information Officer (Communication Specialist - Senior) to join the Communications Team in Madison. You’ll develop and administer comprehensive programs for the agency, coordinating news releases, advisories, and social media, while liaising with state and federal partners.

The role requires strong media relations, excellent writing, and the ability to guide public information strategies across divisions.

Qualifications

• Experience writing, editing, and proofreading publications (press releases, talking points, etc.).
• Experience building relationships with news media, internal staff, public/industry officials, and the public as a spokesperson.
• Experience using distribution and design tools (GovDelivery, Canva, Adobe, basic graphic design, social media).

Responsabilités

• Coordinate a range of news releases, media advisories, social posts, and informational activities.
• Serve as liaison to department staff and other agencies to coordinate media and informational work.
• Manage special event public information efforts and act as a technical resource for new communications tech.
