GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of this position is to investigate all cases of communicable disease (including outbreaks) reported to the health department by providers, hospitals, laboratories, colleges, schools, universities, daycare centers, and other healthcare facilities and organizations. Responsibilities include reporting confirmed and suspected cases and outbreaks to the NC Division of Public Health, ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented, and educating the community and healthcare providers about communicable diseases.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS:
Work hours are typically 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Employees may be called upon at any time to respond to public health emergencies, including outbreak investigations, staffing clinics, or disaster relief.
All employees must comply with vaccination and screening policies, including MMR, varicella, Tdap, TB testing, and Hepatitis B as applicable.
