Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a Senior Research Scientist to lead and support complex public health research and evaluation projects. The role requires expertise in mixed-methods evaluation, health systems, stakeholder engagement, and translating evidence into actionable findings for government agencies and partners.

The position is hybrid, based in Chicago or Washington, DC, with a minimum of six days in the office monthly, and requires eligibility to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health, health policy or related fields; PhD preferred.
• 9+ years in evaluation, including 3+ in project management.
• Experience with public health data sources and health systems.
• Experience designing and executing social science research and publishing results.
• Experience synthesizing complex health topics using mixed methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, multi-year evaluations of public health programs and systems-transformations.
• Develop evaluation frameworks, logic models, research questions, performance measures, data plans, and analytic strategies.
• Integrate quantitative and qualitative evidence from multiple data sources.
• Translate findings into timely, actionable recommendations for government clients and partners.
• Develop reports, presentations, dashboards, and tools communicating findings to diverse audiences.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, evaluation partners, and program implementers.
• Ensure evaluation activities meet contractual and federal reporting requirements.
