Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a Research Associate I to support the Public Health Research Department in a hybrid role based in the Chicago Loop. The team conducts research on disease surveillance, health communication, interpersonal conflict, rural health, and social determinants of health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field.
• 6 months of research experience in health research, public health or health policy.
• Basic knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide general research support for public health and health policy projects.
• Conduct literature reviews and perform statistical analysis under supervision.
• Prepare memos, tables, and graphs to communicate findings.
• Take notes at meetings and draft minutes.
• Schedule and document notes from interviews (virtual or in person).
• Develop report outlines and visual exhibits; edit deliverables.
• Support survey data collection, testing instruments, and data cleaning.
• Support business development through document coordination and research on programs.
• Assist senior staff with background research on agencies and goals.
