Job summary

The Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, represents indigent clients in the Municipal Court of Ely Township, Ely Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District Court.

Essential qualifications include Nevada Bar Membership or eligibility, Spanish fluency, and experience in criminal defense law. The role involves meeting with clients, reviewing discovery, and coordinating with investigators and staff to prepare cases for court appearances.

Qualifications

• Nevada Bar Membership is required or eligible to practice under NR Rule 49.9.
• Cat A certification preferred; self motivated with conflict resolution skills and fluent in Spanish.
• Experience in criminal defense law.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients in and out of custody.
• Reviewing and analyzing discovery.
• Consulting with clients, investigators, and staff.
• Managing court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiations with opposing counsel.
• May supervise Deputy Public Defenders or contracted attorneys.
