Senior PTE P&C Technician

Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
- Conduct on-site protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150, testing relays like SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60, among others.
- Engage in technical and safety development activities.
- Support Project Lead or Field Supervisor on various projects.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Accurately document test results and produce field reports in the required format.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Handle clerical responsibilities such as managing timecards, expense reports, and project reports.
Required Education/Experience
- 5-10 years of professional experience in electrical testing, including work with medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
- Expertise in transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE) and protective schemes.
- Skills in relay calibration, control scheme testing, sensing CT/PT circuits testing, uploading settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based relays.
- Knowledge of Electrical Field Testing standards such as NETA, IEEE, NFPA.
- Experience testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects from 15 kV to 500 kV, including protective relays and circuit breakers.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail, analytical skills, and mathematical proficiency.
- Proficiency with computer systems, relay software, and project management tools.
- Experience with computer-controlled solid-state test equipment (e.g., Omicron, Doble).
- Familiarity with testing software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator Quickset.
- Competency in administrative software like MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage electrical drawings effectively.
- Must meet insurability standards based on a Motor Vehicle Report, pass drug and alcohol tests, and a background check.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 50+ lbs, with or without accommodations.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%.
Desired Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
- Experience testing and commissioning high voltage substation equipment such as CTs, CCVTs, PLC, and DC systems.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 protocol testing.

Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year. Salary offers are based on experience, skills, and education, and do not include additional compensation such as bonuses or benefits.
