Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Senior Psychologist (NS) to lead clinical initiatives at Central Regional Hospital in NC. The role requires expert behavioral assessment, psychotherapy, and program supervision to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Advanced competency in behavioral assessment and functional analysis.

Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the PST Director and Department Heads implementing long- and short-range goals necessary for the delivery of effective, integrated treatment for children, adults, and adolescents. This position requires conceptualization of difficult cases, liaising with treatment/management teams on novel solutions to improve service provision, addressing interdepartmental communication issues, providing supervision/guidance to staff regarding de-escalation/redirection, guiding line staff regarding any behavioral interventions, providing in the moment direction to supervisory and line staff when environmental or behavioral issues arise, as well as facilitating departmental workgroups, projects, committees, and training activities.

Salary Range: $82,857.00 - $136,714.00

Recruitment Range: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00

*A Sign-on bonus of $15,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on Budget Approval.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Advanced competency in behavioral assessment, including preference and reinforcer assessments and the functional analysis of conditions maintaining problem behavior.
• Competency in the provision of psychological treatment including individual and group psychotherapy, techniques for increasing adaptive behavior such as shaping, differential reinforcement of behavior, modeling, and behavioral skills training, and techniques for reducing problem behavior via contingency management.
• Knowledge of community resources, institutional policies/procedures, and state law regarding psychological treatment.
• Knowledge of the theories and practices of the field of psychology including behavior analysis and other learning theories, the social learning model, biological bases of behavior and human development (normal and psychopathological) throughout the life span; with knowledge of issues of assessment and treatment of patients with severe behavior disorders and mental illness.
• Knowledge of psychometrically sound psychological, neuropsychological, neurodevelopmental, and educational tests including those of a complex, comprehensive nature, with specific knowledge of their age and need-appropriate use with patients.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; however, flexibility is required.

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
