Job summary

Enable Ireland delivers children's services through the CDNT under the PDS model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability.

The post holder will provide a range of psychology services for young people (0-18) and their families within an interdisciplinary framework across clinics, preschools, schools, homes and community settings, including assessment, intervention and supervision.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include recognised university degree or diploma with psychology major (QQI Level 8) with honours, meeting PSI requirements to work as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Post-graduate psychology qualification accredited by PSI in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, or equivalent validated by Department of Health.
• Demonstrate competence in the Care Group(s) applied for.
• Membership of PSI or BPS.
• Minimum five years post-graduate psychology experience, with at least two years post-qualification experience.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Psychologist to join our team in Co. Wicklow. We have a full-time opportunity within our team in Wicklow Town. Contract Type: Permanent post. Contract Hours: 35 hours per week. Salary Scale: €97,978 - €115,166 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments). This pay scale is subject to increases in 2026 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations. Annual Leave Entitlement: 34 days per annum.

Overview of the Post: Enable Ireland delivers children's services through the Children's Disability Network Teams (CDNT) under the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a range of Psychology services for young people (0 - 18 years) and their families within an interdisciplinary framework. Service will include assessment and intervention, clinical supervision and ongoing service development. This will be delivered through a family centred approach across a variety of settings including the clinic, preschools, schools, children's homes and community settings.

Essential Criteria

• Applicants must have a recognised university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject, and which meets the requirements of the Psychological Society of Ireland to work as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology. OR An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
• Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for.
• Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Applicants must have at least five years' satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post-graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years' experience requirement.
• Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the areas for which they wish to apply – Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. OR Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the areas for which they wish to apply – Child Disability, Child Psychology either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.
• Eligible to work in the State.
• Note: Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience in a senior post.
• Experience of facilitating parent groups.
• Experience of inter or trans-disciplinary team working.
• Experience of working with children aged from birth to 18 years, with a range of disabilities, (including physical disability, autism, learning disability) and their families.
• Specific experience in assessment and intervention with children with physical disabilities and/or specific learning difficulties.
• Qualification and experience in completing ASD diagnostic assessments.
• Experience and training in formal supervision processes.
