Job summary

Iowa State University’s Student Counseling Services is seeking a Senior Psychologist to provide essential mental health services to students in Ames. The role includes individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and outreach programs within a collaborative team environment.

You’ll supervise trainees, contribute to training, and support personal and academic success while maintaining thorough documentation and flexible schedules in a Monday–Friday, day-hours setting.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree from an APA/CPA accredited program and 1 year of related experience, which may include a doctoral internship.
  • Licensed as a psychologist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy within a brief treatment model.
  • Conduct intake assessments and make recommendations for appropriate services.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and manage urgent student needs.
  • Provide presentations and outreach programming on mental health topics for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Provide supervision to trainees.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of client interactions and services.
  • Take part in crisis coverage as part of a rotating staff schedule.
