Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Texas seeks a Psychiatrist V to provide medical leadership at Terrell State Hospital. The role directs psychiatric and medical treatment, develops recovery plans, and oversees quality assurance within a population requiring complex care.

The incumbent will supervise clinicians, participate in governance, ensure policy adherence, and contribute to disaster response and operational continuity as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed (unrestricted) as a medical doctor by the State of Texas and board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.
• Must have current DEA registration and a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• At least five years of experience as a psychiatrist and in treating psychiatric disorders.

Responsibilities

• Directs clinical care and oversees psychiatric and medical treatment at the state hospital.
• Provides strategic direction and leadership to hospital staff.
• Develops recovery plans and oversees quality assurance initiatives.
• Participates in hospital committees and manages contracts.
• Maintains regulatory compliance and participates in disaster response when needed.
