Surge Group is partnering with a leading blockchain infrastructure company to hire a Senior Software Engineer, Protocol (Rust). The role focuses on core protocol infrastructure, distributed systems, and Ethereum client integration, with remote work and global collaboration.

You will own features end-to-end—from design to production—while upholding security and reliability standards in a fast-growing blockchain environment.

Qualifications

• Senior-level software engineering experience, typically 7+ years.
• Strong, hands-on production Rust experience.
• Experience building real production systems in Rust—not just coursework or tutorials.
• Deep understanding of Ethereum, including EVM, JSON-RPC and Ethereum clients.
• Proven professional experience in crypto, blockchain or protocol engineering.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing core protocol infrastructure in Rust.
• Owning features from architecture through deployment and monitoring.
• Building conformance and adversarial testing for protocol compatibility.
• Working across Ethereum, EVM, JSON-RPC and client architecture.
• Designing and improving complex distributed systems and executing safe protocol upgrades.
• Investigating and resolving complex availability and performance issues.
• Maintaining high standards around security, correctness and engineering review.
• Contributing to architecture and decisions across blockchain infrastructure.
• Using AI-assisted tooling while maintaining rigor.
