Job summary

The City of Saint Paul’s City Attorney’s Office in downtown Saint Paul seeks two full-time senior-level prosecutors for its Criminal Division. The pay range will be dependent on qualifications.

This role involves prosecuting petty to gross misdemeanor offenses, representing the City at arraignments, hearings, jury trials, and sentencing, and mentoring staff while advising the City Council and City departments.

Qualifications

• JD required and license to practice law in Minnesota.
• At least seven years of progressive legal experience, including four years at full performance level with a city attorney’s office or equivalent.
• Strong research, writing, and trial advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute petty misdemeanor, misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor offenses.
• Represent the City at arraignments, hearings, juries, sentencing and other court proceedings.
• Conduct case investigations and obtain evidence from records and sources.
• Draft, file, and submit criminal pleadings, motions, and court documents.
• Provide legal advice to City Council, Mayor’s Office, departments and committees.
