Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior Propulsion & Ordnance Engineer in Torrance, CA to design and deliver ignition and energetic systems for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles. You will work hands-on with multidisciplinary teams to design, analyze, build, and validate ignitors, detonators, destruct charges, and related systems for reliable motor initiation and stage separation.

The role requires advanced degrees in aerospace, mechanical, or materials science and 5+ years in propulsion/ignition

Qualifications

5+ years of propulsion/ignition design for aerospace/defense.
Experience with energetic materials and initiation systems.
Familiarity with flight termination/hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

Design and develop energetic systems for ignition and ordnance.
Lead ignition hardware architecture, packaging, integration with vehicle systems.
Perform thermal, structural, and energetic analyses under extreme environments.
Develop ignition systems for repeatable motor starts across operating conditions.
Collaborate with propulsion, avionics, structures, safety teams for integration.
Support material selection and processing with materials/manufacturing teams.
Plan and execute ground test campaigns and analyze results for improvements.
Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations on ignition performance.
Ensure safety, handling, and mission assurance requirements.
