Job summary

Castelion in Torrance, CA, seeks a Senior Propulsion Engineer to own solid rocket motor primary and secondary structures and propulsion components. You will drive technically sound designs to meet aggressive schedules, affordability, and production goals.

You will translate objectives into scalable designs, create CAD models, participate in prototype testing, and collaborate with supply chain to mitigate risks while ensuring compliance with ASME Y14.5 and security requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical or fluids design experience (including student projects and internships).
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel up to 30% and work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Translate project objectives into cost-effective, scalable designs for production.
• Lead the creation of solid rocket motor designs with autonomy.
• Participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of prototypes and production builds.
• Use rapid iteration cycles to validate performance and adjust designs accordingly.
• Produce, evaluate, and authorize CAD models and drawings per ASME Y14.5-2009/1994.
• Collaborate with supply chain to mitigate availability risks and delays.
