Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to lead mechanical design of structural components and propulsion subsystems.

You will guide junior engineers, apply engineering theory to complex assemblies, and coordinate across programs. This role requires a STEM degree with years of design experience (BS 8y / MS 6y / PhD 4y), Siemens NX and Teamcenter proficiency, and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (US citizenship).

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelors in STEM with at least 8 years of design experience or Master’s in STEM with at least 6 years or a PhD in STEM with at least 4 years of design experience.
• Ability to mentor lower‑level engineers.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction with input from SMEs.
• Apply engineering techniques and test data to complex components, structures and sub‑assemblies.
• Establish requirements for materials, components, and functional systems.
• Document results and release after review by engineers.
• Lead engineering efforts to reach major milestones (design reviews, TIRs, test readiness).
• Support earned value performance tracking across programs.
