Job summary

Sierra Space Corporation seeks a Sr Mechanical Engineer in Colorado to lead design and analysis of complex propulsion and mechanical systems. You will act as a prime technical contact, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to drive high technical standards and successful program outcomes.

Requirements include knowledge of electric propulsion, active TS/SCI clearance, and strong vendor management. Advanced degrees and broad test experience are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; Master’s +6 yrs also acceptable.
• 8+ years of related mechanical engineering experience.
• Expertise in mechanical engineering standards, theory, and diagnostics.
• Ability to devise solutions using ingenuity and creativity.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis for complex mechanical projects and RE roles.
• Represent the organization as prime technical contact on contracts.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct trade studies, system layouts, testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and communicate findings.
