Job description

Senior Property Engineer – Earthquake Expert

Allianz Commercial specializes in property insurance for mid‑market and large companies. Our Risk Consulting team provides expertise in natural hazards, fire safety, and earthquake risk.

Reporting to the NA Regional Manager – Property Risk Engineering, this role provides Property Risk Engineering and earthquake expertise to support underwriting decisions and client risk management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site field engineering surveys for large corporate clients; evaluate exposures and controls; provide risk assessment reports.
  • Perform account‑level desktop reviews; support zone and regional underwriting with guidance and professional advice.
  • Develop and deliver tailored loss control programs and services; coordinate client stewardship meetings.
  • Generate account engineering summaries, prospect reviews, risk engineering reports, recommendation letters, and confirmation letters.
  • Balance field survey and account review workloads; communicate with brokers, underwriters, and clients.
  • Assist with ongoing projects, ARC services, and cross‑functional initiatives; support training and presentations.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of engineering/technical experience in Property Risk Engineering and earthquake risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of hazards and controls across diverse business sectors.
  • Experience in field and desktop evaluation of earthquake risks; development of loss estimates and risk engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with NFPA or FM Global guidelines; commitment to ongoing learning.
  • Proficiency in MS365, AI tools, data analytics, and visualization techniques.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the US; some Canada or international travel possible.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive change agent, and effective in home office and team environments.

Compensation and benefits:

Annualized base pay range: $98,700 to $169,800. Remote position with approximately 30% travel.
