Overview
A real estate investment firm with a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of assets under management is hiring a Senior Property Accountant for its Torrance office. This hands-on role blends property-level accounting with corporate general ledger support and fund administration coordination, making it central to how the firm reports performance to investors, lenders, and management.
What you'll do
- Perform full-cycle accounting for 6 multifamily properties and 2 commercial assets, including monthly close, financial packages, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review CAM reconciliations, straight-line rent, and security deposit accounting
- Manage bank reconciliations, cash management, accounts payable, tenant billing, and lease administration
- Support corporate-level general ledger accounting, including intercompany transactions and consolidations
- Assist with corporate financial statements and management reporting
- Support entity-level budgeting and forecasting
- Serve as a key point of contact with outside fund administrators for data exchange, reconciliations, and reporting
- Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for fund-level financial statements, investor reporting, and audits
- Assist with lender reporting packages and covenant compliance documentation
- Maintain investor/portfolio data in the IM portal of the real estate ERP system
- Build and maintain custom reports in Yardi Voyager (beyond existing templates) for management, investor, and lender reporting
- Manage vendor compliance workflows in the ERP system, including exceptions and documentation standards
- Identify opportunities to streamline close and reporting workflows across the portfolio
Required qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience with a focus on property or real estate accounting
- Hands-on Yardi experience required
- CAM Reconciliations experience required
- Financial Statements preparation experience required
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) required
- Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Accounting or Finance required
- Experience with large company ERP systems, custom report building, and the IM portal
- Must be local and able to work on-site 5 days per week
Preferred qualifications
- Residential and commercial property accounting experience ideally combined
- CPA a big plus but not required; candidates straight out of Big 4 CPA firms will be considered
- Real estate investment experience a big plus
- Fund administrator coordination experience preferred
- Corporate or entity-level accounting exposure a plus
