Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Scientific Associate Director - Project Toxicologist to serve as the scientific interface between Translational Safety & Risk Sciences and cross-functional project teams from discovery through post-marketing.

You will lead nonclinical safety assessment programs, develop innovative study designs, and mentor scientists while partnering with internal and external stakeholders to advance diverse therapeutics across inflammation, oncology, and cardiometabolic diseases.

Qualifications

• PhD/PharmD/MD with 4+ years Toxicology experience or equivalent.
• Masters with 7+ years Toxicology experience.
• Bachelors with 9 years Toxicology experience.
• 8+ years drug development experience as Project Toxicologist/NTSP on multiple programs.
• Experience across modalities including siRNA, ADCs, and degraders.
• Matrixed management and cross-functional collaboration across R&D.

Responsibilities

• Lead TSRS sub-team and act as a project toxicologist on core teams.
• Design nonclinical safety strategies aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Develop innovative study designs using NAMs to address complex questions.
• Interpret data and author sections of nonclinical strategy and regulatory submissions.
• Communicate effectively within TSRS and with regulatory agencies.
