You will lead subcontractors and field forces to deliver safe, on-time, and high-quality commercial construction projects while partnering with the Project Manager on schedule, budget, and staffing.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of project superintendent experience.
• Commercial construction experience with a GC is required.
• Experience in education, municipal, hospitality, aviation, resorts, or senior living construction.

The Weitz Company is looking for an experienced Senior Project Superintendent to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL working on commercial construction projects! This role is responsible for safe, well managed, on-time delivery of, and profitable field operations. The Senior Project Superintendent plays a critical role in establishing a safety culture on the jobsite and will work closely with the Project Manager to manage schedule, budget, and staff to achieve the best outcome possible. This role will also create/maintain effective client, vendor, supplier, and subcontractor relationships.

What You’ll Do:

• Act as the primary leader of subcontractors and field forces on a job site
• Maintain project safety in accordance with the company’s safety policy
• Develop and update the project schedule, resource allocation, and work processes
• Prepare two-week look ahead schedules and hold pull planning sessions with trade partners
• Implement lean construction practices into the management of the work
• Oversee daily construction activities ensuring work meets quality standards, project timelines, and budgets
• Coordinate with subcontractors, manage their performance, and ensure they adhere to contract requirements and safety protocols
• Conduct regular site inspections, identify and address quality issues, and ensure work meets project specifications
• Identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively to maintain project momentum and project schedule
• Assist with the buyout and selection of major subcontractors
• Oversee all aspects of project execution, including constructions schedules, budgets, and quality control
• Supervise and coordinate all field personnel, subcontractors, and construction activities
• Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and subcontractors.
• Maintain strong, professional, respectful, and consistent communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders
• Coordinate the work of the subcontractors’ field forces
• Communicate effectively with owners, designers, and engineers
• Ensure all required paperwork and cost reports are completed, accurate, and timely
• Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures
• Provide opportunities to help the team develop, learn, and grow
• Foster positive relationships with both internal and external parties

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience:
  • 10+ years of Project Superintendent experience required
  • Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC) required
  • Experience in education, municipal, hospitality, aviation, resorts, and/or senior living construction is required
  • Experience leading, developing, and mentoring a team
• Skills:
  • Ability to read/interpret construction documents
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Excellent project organizational skills
  • Impressive leadership skills with the desire to teach, mentor, and develop a team
  • Business acumen and relationship building skillsExcellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization
• Technology:
  • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Primavera P6, and Outlook
  • Systems experience with Bluebeam and Procore is a plus
  • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
