Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA seeks a Senior Project Risk Manager to lead the integrated risk-management program for the ALS-U upgrade, reporting to project leadership and engaging with CAMs, controls, and external review boards.

The role emphasizes on-site work with limited remote allowances for analytical tasks, requiring deep experience in large-scale capital projects, hazard analysis, Monte Carlo studies, and governance of risk across technical, cost, and schedule

Qualifications

8+ years of progressively responsible safety/EHS experience on large complex projects.
Experience with hazard identification/risk assessment and safety documentation.
Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements.
Experience collaborating with engineering, project management, and contractors.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental/Physical Sciences or related field, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Lead the integrated project risk-management program.
Maintain Risk Management Plan and governance processes.
Maintain risk register and records.
Serve as senior advisor to project leadership on risk.
Facilitate Risk Management Board meetings and risk workshops.
Identify unresolved or increasing risks and ensure ownership and decisions are documented.
Reconcile risk assumptions with schedules, cost estimates, procurement plans and change-control activities.
