Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Water Engineering to lead multi-disciplinary teams from development through close-out, shaping water infrastructure projects that protect public health and communities.

You’ll manage large, technically complex programs, coordinate stakeholders, supervise staff, and mentor junior managers, leveraging HDR’s employee-owned culture to drive innovation, quality results, and lasting impact across the New England region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • At least 10 years of related experience and 5+ years in project management.
  • MS Office and MS Project proficiency; Access is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning.
  • Commitment to employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multi-discipline teams through the project lifecycle.
  • Manage large multi-discipline projects with high technical complexity and sizable staff.
  • Coordinate multiple projects concurrently and maintain client relations.
  • Participate in marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Ensure deliverables meet budget and schedule targets; supervise project staff.

In the role of Senior Project Manager – Water Engineering, we’ll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum 5 years project management experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • PMP certification
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the New England Area
