Position: Senior Project Manager

Location: Columbus, OH

We are looking for a talented engineer seeking the opportunity to work on exciting projects in our Columbus, OH office. In this role, you will be part of a large, experienced team, contributing to utility infrastructure designs and mentoring less experienced staff as we grow. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated with a strong technical background. A minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience is required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for client interaction and career advancement. Must be a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all project activities to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed funding and schedule parameters.
  • Prepare proposals, fee justifications, and contracts in conjunction with the Team Leader, Group Leader, and Principal-in-Charge.
  • Establish a project work plan including major milestones, potential roadblocks, schedule, and financial plan covering budget, man-hour utilization, and billing forecast.
  • Monitor and control project financials, review cost sheets, and prepare monthly invoices.
  • Prepare monthly cost/profit analysis and billing projections.
  • Coordinate with the Team Leader and other project managers for personnel allocation.
  • Ensure productivity and cooperation among project team members and coordinate with other departments and subconsultants.
  • Seek additional compensation for work outside the original scope and prepare contract amendments as needed.
  • Represent the firm at project meetings, presentations, and public hearings, documenting discussions.
  • Review project elements and update work plans near milestone completions.
  • Maintain design documentation and file organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead and coordinate activities of design engineers and technicians to ensure project progress within schedule and budget.
  • Mentor and assist staff in developing design skills and communication.
  • Identify and resolve project roadblocks.
  • Stay current with design standards and procedures.
  • Attend seminars and continuing education to enhance skills.

Quality Assurance:

  • Supervise project personnel to ensure high standards, adherence to quality plans, and budget/schedule compliance.
  • Review final design drawings and calculations for accuracy before submission.
  • Oversee work performed by other departments and subconsultants for quality.
  • Respond promptly to construction-related issues.

Client Coordination:

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing questions related to scope, design, schedule, extra work, and billing.
  • Be responsive to client requests and identify new opportunities.
  • Support business development efforts.

Qualifications

  • Registered engineer with 7+ years of diversified utility infrastructure experience.
  • Experience in utility infrastructure projects (drinking water, wastewater, stormwater).
