  • Hands-on Primavera P6 experience for scheduling.
  • Experience managing scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and change.
  • Understanding impact of changes on schedules and costs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities across engineering, construction, maintenance, environmental, permitting, cost engineering, procurement, and sponsoring teams.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure projects stay on track.
  • Document scope changes and communicate cost implications to stakeholders.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee a high-volume portfolio of transmission and substation capital projects supporting one of Southern California's largest electrical utility programs.

This position is responsible for managing 50–100 concurrent small to medium-sized projects within an assigned geographic region. Projects primarily include substation upgrades, transformer replacements, circuit breaker replacements, relay upgrades, and other capital improvement initiatives with a combined portfolio value of approximately $50M–$75M.

The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience in utility, construction, engineering, or capital infrastructure environments and thrives in a fast-paced setting where organization, schedule management, and proactive stakeholder coordination are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 50–100 concurrent transmission and substation projects across various stages of execution.
  • Lead projects throughout the full lifecycle, including initiation, planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Maintain ownership of project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, and change management activities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, monitoring critical path activities and schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate project activities across engineering, substation construction, maintenance, environmental, permitting, cost engineering, procurement, and sponsoring organizations.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and overall portfolio performance while ensuring projects remain on track.
  • Evaluate scope and schedule changes, document impacts, and communicate cost implications to project stakeholders and cost engineers.
  • Facilitate project meetings, establish priorities, document action items, and drive issue resolution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Prepare project status reports, executive updates, risk assessments, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Participate in field job walks and collaborate with regional engineering and construction teams to better understand project scope and field conditions.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders while independently managing a large regional project portfolio.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of Project Management experience supporting utility, construction, engineering, infrastructure, or capital improvement projects.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong experience with project scheduling, dependency management, and schedule recovery.
  • Hands-on experience using Primavera P6 for project scheduling.
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of how project changes impact schedules and overall project costs.
  • Experience coordinating engineering, construction, maintenance, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume project portfolio with minimal supervision.
Desired Skills
  • Electrical utility experience.
  • Transmission and/or substation project management experience.
  • Gas utility or other utility infrastructure experience.
  • Capital construction or heavy civil project management.
  • PMP or other Project Management certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Experience working within large enterprise organizations.

Must be willing to work onsite in Pomona, CA
