Job summary

DRMP, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina office and lead multidisciplinary design teams on major highway design-build projects across North Carolina and the southeastern United States.

You will guide projects from pursuit and proposal development through design delivery and construction support, coordinating with contractor partners, owner agencies, engineers, designers and subconsultants to ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Active North Carolina Professional Engineer license.
• 10+ years of highway/transportation design experience.
• 5+ years supporting NCDOT design-build projects preferred.
• Strong client/owner relationship skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage highway design-build projects across scope, schedule, budget, staffing, risk and quality.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate with construction partners.
• Serve as primary contact for contractor clients and owner agencies.
• Guide pursuits from proposal development through design and construction support.
• Establish execution plans and manage milestones, budgets, deliverables.
• Identify risks and lead timely resolution of technical and delivery issues.
• Oversee contracts, amendments, change orders, claims, subconsultants, and project finances.
• Implement quality-control processes for constructible deliverables.
• Mentor project managers and staff, promoting collaboration.
• Support NC projects and, if needed, other southeastern states.

Lead complex transportation projects and help shape the growth of DRMP’s Alternative Delivery practice.

Location: Charlotte, NC

DRMP is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina office and lead multidisciplinary design teams delivering major highway design-build projects throughout North Carolina and the southeastern United States.

As a senior member of our Alternative Delivery Team, you’ll guide projects from pursuit and proposal development through design delivery and construction support. You will work directly with contractor partners, owner agencies, engineers, designers, and subconsultants to guide complex transportation projects to successful completion and contribute to the continued growth of our design-build practice.

What you will lead:

• Manage highway design-build projects, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, risk, and quality.


• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate closely with construction partners.


• Serve as the primary point of contact for contractor clients and owner agencies.


• Guide projects from pursuit and proposal development through design and construction support.


• Establish project execution plans and maintain accountability for milestones, budgets, and deliverables.


• Identify project risks and lead timely resolution of technical, contractual, and delivery issues.


• Manage contracts, amendments, change orders, claims, subconsultants, and project financial performance.


• Implement quality-control processes that support accurate, constructible, and compliant deliverables.


• Mentor project managers and technical staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team.


• Support projects in North Carolina and, as needed, elsewhere in the southeastern United States.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.


• Active Professional Engineer license in North Carolina.


• At least 10 years of experience in highway or transportation infrastructure design.


• Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary transportation design projects.


• At least five years of experience supporting NCDOT design-build projects is preferred.


• Strong client, contractor, and owner-agency relationship-management skills.


• Proven ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risk, and quality.


• Clear written, verbal, and presentation skills.


• Ability to lead teams, make timely decisions, and perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
