Position Summary
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of a variety of architecture and construction projects focused on detailing, code compliance, quality control, and problem solving. Sr. Project Manager works closely with the Director of the Studio to ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and on budget. A Senior Project Manager works directly with our clients to ensure Project success. A Senior Project Manager may work independently or with a team to complete the project. This position will provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and other Project Managers as needed.

Job Essentials, Responsibilities, Duties

  • Develops the overall project strategy from start to finish with ongoing reassessment and adjustments as needed.
  • Schedules sub-consultants, sub-contractors, and team members (external and internal) to assist in completion of the project.
  • Prepares fee proposals and project budgets to provide to our clients
  • Provides accurate and high-quality documentation essential for a successful project
  • Responsible for the GHP project file, ensuring its completeness, accuracy to include full documentation throughout the project and after archiving.
  • Report on project progress and provide regular updates to senior management
  • Notifies the Studio Leader immediately upon issues developed during the project whether the project manager is directly involved or not involved
  • Travels to project sites for assessments, evaluations and inspections at various phases throughout the duration of the project
  • Coordinates project specifics with authorities having jurisdiction and other agencies through the various project phases
  • Manages Project’s performance to ensure objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Utilizes technology to enhance Project efficiency and performance
  • Maintains responsibility for the overall success of the Project.
  • Reviews Account Payables related to the Project and provides recommendation to GHP Accounting
  • Provides recommendations to GHP Accounting on monthly billings
  • Maintains positive employee relations and serves as a resource for employees.
  • Ensures consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulations that apply to the Project to ensure proper compliance.
  • Develops and cultivates client relationships to generate new project opportunities.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Problem Solving with Attention to Detail – Ability to analyze complex technical problems and identify solutions and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Technical Architectural Knowledge - Ability to translate architectural concepts and requirements into technical solutions and design specifications. Strong knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, industry standards and regulations.
  • Effective Communication – Clear concise communication skills, both written and verbal, are required for interacting with our clients, consultants, contractors, and team members. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is a requirement.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Ability to demonstrate empathy in engaging with team members and clients, understanding their needs, and addressing their concerns. Skill in resolving conflicts or disagreements that may arise within project teams or external parties.
  • Time and Stress Management – Strong organizational and prioritization skills to effectively meet deadlines and capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education, Experience, Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • 8-12 years of progressively responsible experience in field, with strong technical ability
  • Registered Architect, NCARB certification preferred
  • BEC Certified preferred
  • BECx Experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, fire life safety, and the permitting process
  • Strong technical expertise with an emphasis on building envelopes
  • 5+ years in Cost Estimating
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, GHP is unable to sponsor foreign candidates

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to work effectively in an open office environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of a job site, for long periods of time, in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and be able to wear safety equipment such as hard hat, steel toed boots, half face respirators and other protective gear.
  • Ability to manage loud construction equipment and noise, heights, confined spaces, and other construction site hazards.
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds at a time
  • Ability to drive large vehicles

Work Environment
GHP Sr. Project Managers operate in a professional office environment and in the field (which includes client’s offices, hospitals, hotels, schools, government buildings, and other locations). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop or tablet computers and smartphones.

Travel Requirements
Travel may be required for many GHP Projects, and in order to oversee the project a Sr. Project Manager will need to visit Project sites. The Sr. Project Manager is responsible to adequately schedule site visits and other travel necessary to ensure a successful project.
