Title: Senior Project Manager – Structural

Schedule: Full Time

Travel Required: Yes (0-25%)

Position Purpose

Lead, manage, plan, and coordinate project activities to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved within prescribed time frames and budget limits. Provide technical direction, maintain quality, manage schedules, foster client relations, and produce financial, record, and reporting outputs essential for company management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership
  • Lead, direct, and coordinate the project delivery team, including designers, reviewers, administrators, and sub‑consultants.
  • Coordinate support from shared services (contracting, accounting, legal, HR, project excellence).
  • Meet ethical standards for Professional Engineer or Architecture licensure.
Communications
  • Lead and facilitate project delivery team meetings and client/stakeholder coordination meetings.
  • Provide clear updates, issue analysis, and proposed solutions to clients regularly.
  • Distribute and follow up on client communications, RFI responses, review comments, scope and schedule updates, and related items with the design team.
Client Relations
  • Develop trusted partner relationships to generate repeat work.
  • Maintain regular contact to obtain feedback and assess satisfaction.
  • Coordinate feedback to achieve superior client ratings (e.g., CPARs, PPQs).
  • Assist clients in preparing scopes of services for project requirements.
Contract Management
  • Understand all contractual components and governing contract flow‑downs.
  • Ensure assumptions and exclusions are captured in the final contract.
  • Facilitate contract signatures, NTP, and closeout.
  • Clarify scope of work and team roles across disciplines.
  • Ensure design complies with and stays within the contracted scope; manage scope creep through modifications.
  • Prepare and execute subcontracts, teaming agreements, and purchase orders.
Production Management
  • Oversee production of design deliverables.
  • Coordinate data downloads/ uploads with clients.
  • Interface with clients for RFI or clarification information.
  • Delegate questions, RFIs, and revisions to appropriate team members.
  • Maintain risk register and issue list.
Schedule Management
  • Prepare project design schedule per contract requirements.
  • Review and update baseline schedule regularly; inform team of changes and deadlines.
  • Notify clients of schedule impacts, obstacles, and propose solutions.
Cost Management
  • Establish and update project budget and forecast until completion.
  • Review budget and collaborate with teams to stay within budget.
  • Maintain invoicing, accounts receivable/payable, and accruals with clients and sub‑consultants.
  • Create monthly invoicing schedules when possible; bill clients promptly.
  • Guide clients on cost reductions or de‑scoping if necessary.
Quality Control
  • Ensure compliance with the quality control program.
  • Oversee quality actions: data review, peer review, independent technical review, compliance review, and management review.
  • Conduct management reviews of deliverables for technical sufficiency, completeness, accuracy, and contract compliance.
  • Implement quality control checklists per project.
  • Execute quality control signature sheets across disciplines.
Business Development
  • Coordinate with business development to update pipeline and support capture/proposal efforts.
  • Build client network and outreach to prospective clients.
  • Manage client programs to nurture relationships as trusted technical experts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or Registered Architect (RA).
  • 11–15 years of project management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience.
  • Capability to manage multiple, large, complex, single‑ or multi‑disciplinary projects independently.

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing.

  • Highly motivated, proactive, critical thinker open to new opportunities.
Special Requirements
  • Travel periodically to project meetings and construction sites, primarily day and overnight trips, occasional longer trips.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification considered a plus.
