Job summary

AMD in Austin, TX, is seeking a Sr. Manager Software Development & Support to lead a portfolio of programs, projects, and ongoing operations that enable critical AMD business functions. You will manage a team, set priorities, oversee delivery, and align work with business objectives.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The role partners with stakeholders, vendors, and implementation partners to drive planning, governance, resourcing, delivery, and ongoing operational support

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading programs, projects, and operational support.
  • Strong people leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Experience managing delivery plans, budgets, risks, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid delivery models.
  • Ability to identify AI opportunities responsibly.

Responsibilities

  • Program and Delivery Leadership: Provide direction across programs and projects, ensuring work is prioritized, planned, and delivered in alignment with business objectives, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • People Management: Directly manage a team of project, development, and support resources by setting expectations, providing coaching, supporting career development, balancing workloads, and building a team focused on execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Execution: Oversee project planning, milestone tracking, risk management, issue resolution, and delivery readiness to ensure work progresses with clear ownership, transparency, and measurable results.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as a primary business group contact for one or more domains, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders through regular engagement, status reviews, planning discussions, and alignment on priorities and outcomes.
  • Support and Operations Management: Oversee support operations for business applications and services, ensuring issues are managed effectively, service levels are maintained, resources are coordinated, and vendors or partners are engaged as needed.
  • Governance and Process Management: Lead consistent program and project governance practices, including intake, planning, prioritization, reporting, change management, and delivery processes across Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid delivery models.

The Role

The Sr. Manager Software Development & Support leads a portfolio of programs, projects, and support activities that enable critical AMD business functions. This role is responsible for managing direct reports, setting delivery priorities, overseeing project execution, and ensuring teams are aligned to business objectives.

The Person

The Sr. Manager partners closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and implementation partners to drive planning, governance, resourcing, delivery, and ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Experience
  • Proven experience leading programs, projects, and operational support activities across business and technology teams.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience managing direct reports, coaching team members, setting priorities, and supporting individual development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage delivery plans, resource needs, risks, dependencies, budgets, and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery life cycles, including Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business groups, technical teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for managing priorities, schedules, reporting, resource allocation, and delivery commitments.
  • Ability to identify, promote, and evangelize practical AI opportunities that improve productivity, simplify business processes, and support responsible adoption across teams and stakeholders.
Academic Credentials
  • BS/MS in CS, CSE (or similar), PMP certification.
